BWF has allocated its tournaments in 2 categories which are Superseries and Super Series Premier. The Super Series is a grade 2 level tournaments. Thus offering less prize money and witnessing less star-studded performances. However, Superseries Premier is the 3 mega-events that take place in a year similar to grand slams in tennis and offer higher prize money.

Big players each year take part in these series and at the end of the year top 8 ranked players get to play in the BWF World Tour Finals and the winner emerges to be crowned as the top-ranked player as well as the highest-paid player of the year.
