He made wrestling debut at an independent pro-wrestling circuit in 1999. Daniel signed a 18 month contract with WWF in 2000. He then went to wrestle at Ring of Honor, Pro-Wrestling Noah and also New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) before signing a contract with WWE in 2009.
On his return to WWE he became the 26th Triple Crown Champion and the 15th Grand Slam Champion. In the year 2011, he won the Money in the Bank event. Daniel Brian retired from wrestling in 2016 due to seizures and a brain lesion, resulting from multiple concussions. Till 2018, he worked as a Smackdown general manager. In 2018, doctors permitted him to wrestle. After his contract expired with WWE in 2024, he signed for AEW.
